Classic and True-blue Filipino Foods at Hikay
Hikay – Being a Filipino, foods have always been part of our daily life and culture. From appetizers, to the main dish to the desserts, we all have variety of foods and specialties to choose from. Each region and cities offers unique and mouth-watering dishes.
Hikay, I consider it one of Cebu’s best in local dishes has branches in SM City Cebu and Lahug. They offer variety of local dishes cooked specially for true-blue Cebuanos.
Here are Hikay’s best-seller dishes of all time and my own personal picks:
Unlike any other nghoiong I’ve tasted, this one from Hikay is truly exceptional. There’s a lot of what’s inside than what’s on the cover and that’s what matters! I just couldn’t understand what’s inside the nghoiong but it is all worthy to spend every single peso for this. The first time you see and smell it will make you wanna grab them all at once inside your mouth so savor every bit of fragrance.
The most delicious monggo soup I have ever tasted on all the restaurants and carenderia I’ve ever been. The aroma of the soup is very tempting. The time I tasted the monggo soup, i remembered how my relatives from the province prepares the same food with lots of coconut mixture (tuno) which is my all-time favorite.
This is not the typical chorizo you see anywhere. This chorizo is specially made only at Hikay and after you eat it, there’s noo trace of chorizo left on your mouth. In short, there is no after-smell-chorizo-feels after you eat and that’s what makes this chorizo special.
I liked how the crispy pata was made. Not overcooked compared to other crispy pata’s i’ve tasted so far. This one’s one of the best!
I am always a fan and a bihon addict. What I liked about Hikay’s sotanghon is that it is fully loaded with bunch of fishballs, green vegetables, spices, calamansi, shrimp and meat. At first, I thought it was a bihon. What i’m sure with it is that, i find it so bihon and I love it!
Fried Ice Cream
It was the first time i’ve tasted a fried ice cream. I did not expect they presented it this way. What I always see about fried Ice Cream is it’s still served on cups but in Hikay, it was served on a plate and it’s very tempting. I love the idea of this dessert because there’s the outer layer with crispy fried ice cream and inside it is the soft and cold ice-cream waiting to be eaten.
There’s a lot of food choices you can try with their menu.
